Biden-Harris Administration Announces New School Meal Standards to Strengthen Child Nutrition. These standards will be implemented in the coming years. If you have questions, please contact the director of food service or your child's school nutrition team.

• #DYK Research shows that school meals are the most nutritious food source for American children—thanks in large part to the work of school nutrition professionals, parents, school meal partners, the food industry, and USDA to make school meals healthier over the past decade.
• New updates to school meals focus on giving kids the right balance of nutrients, while reducing the amounts of added sugars in menu items, especially at breakfast. Learn more about the gradual changes.
• #DYK: For the first time, added sugars will be limited in school meals nationwide. USDA heard concerns from parents and teachers about excessive amounts of added sugars in some foods, and research shows that these added sugars are common in typical school breakfast items. Learn more.
• The updates to school nutrition standards will provide children with less sugars and sodium, which are too high in the American diet, and continue to provide nutritious foods including fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Learn more.

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

The newly designated 9-8-8, three-digit number, will route individuals to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, where compassionate, accessible care and support are available 24/7 for anyone experiencing a mental health, suicide, or substance use crisis. The 988 line is confidential and free for all. The Lifeline number, 1-800-273-8255, will continue to function. As of July 16, 2022, both numbers connect individuals to the same services.    There are seven crisis centers in Missouri responsible for answering 988 contacts for the state. The trained crisis specialists at each center will listen, work to understand how the individual’s problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources. Crisis specialists will also have the ability to dispatch mobile crisis response teams for additional crisis response wherever the crisis is occurring in the community and based on the needs of the person.   Please note that the newly-passed Suicide Awareness and Prevention Act (Sections 170.047 & 170.048) will go into effect in Missouri on July 1, 2023. This act requires a public school or charter school with pupils in grades 7-12 that issues pupil or student identification cards to print the 3-digit dialing code that directs calls and routes text messages to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, 988. This means schools have one year to make this change.

Parent Mobile Payments

Parents can now make online payments through the TeacherEase iOS and Android mobile apps. To access this feature iOS users must update the app, no update is required for Android. 

 

Once in the app, parents can navigate to More > Fees / Lunch Balance to view a summary of their account balances. 

 

 

Clicking into an account shows transaction and fee information. 

 

 

Parents can use the “Make Online Payment” button to pay fees or deposit money in a student’s lunch account. 

 

 

Similar to the browser version, parents with multiple students see a unified family view.
