Vaccine requirements for 7th & 12th graders

The state of Ohio requires all students entering the 7th grade to have the meningococcal vaccine (also known as MCV4, Menevo or Menactra) in addition to one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis).  Additionally, the state of Ohio requires all students entering the 12th grade to have a second dose of meningococcal vaccine (also known as MCV4, Menevo or Menactra).   If the first dose of meningococcal vaccine was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. Vaccination is the best way to protect someone from getting the disease.

You may obtain these vaccines from your child’s health care provider or through another community resource. For your convenience, Akron Children’s Hospital will be offering these vaccinations at Coventry High School in the Fall 2024 for students who at that time are still in need of their required immunization. More information to be provided when available.Students who do not provide documentation of these immunizations to the school this fall are subject to exclusion. If there are medical/religious or philosophical reasons your child cannot receive immunizations, please contact the school clinic for an Immunization Exemption Form.

Important Chromebook Information

Attention Coventry Families, Some good news to start off the school-year... All students in grades 8-12 receive a Chromebook to use throughout the year.  We will begin distribution of the Chromebooks on Monday at the middle school and continue by grade level throughout next week. Your child will soon receive a very important document: a Coventry 1:1 Chromebook Handbook

The last page of the handbook needs to be signed by the student and the parent and returned to school before a new Chromebook is issued. Please note, pages 14-16 have information regarding purchasing device insurance

This optional insurance will provide coverage against an assortment of damages that are beyond the warranty. In addition to the signed handbook form, any students who have been issued a loaner device must bring their device to school next week in order to exchange it for the new Chromebook. Students who are in remote learning will be contacted by the building principals regarding the procedure for picking up their Chromebooks.

Thank you for taking time to review the 1:1 Chromebook Handbook, completing the form, and sending it back to school. We truly appreciate your attention to this information.

Digital Media Guidelines for Kids

Kids today are growing up immersed in digital media. From streaming TV and movies to video games and social media, there’s no denying screen time is a way of life for them. So it’s no surprise that children spend an average of seven hours each day on entertainment media, including TV, tablets, smartphones and computers, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The good news is media can have a positive impact on kids, contrary to what was once believed. It can be creative and engaging to spark imaginations, as well as educational.
