125 Stewart Elementary second graders participated in the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day held on Thursday, May 9 hosted by Washington County Extension and Outreach. Special guest speakers helped make the day possible: Washington County Dispatch, Washington Fire Department, WCDC, Washington YMCA, Washington County Hospitals and Clinics, Washington FFA, Model Train Club, and Washington County Extension and Outreach/4-H.

Washington Community Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

David L., senior from Washington High School, has been named Washington County Regional Center’s “Outstanding Student of the Year.” David was selected by Kirkwood staff based on exceptional academic performance, completion of at least half of his coursework toward a degree, and his qualities of character and leadership. On April 19, 2024 David L. and his parents will be attending the Outstanding Student Reception hosted by Kirkwood Academic Affairs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
