Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified child nutrition professionals.

We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

MORE ABOUT SCHOOL MEALS:

All school menus must follow USDA guidelines, which align with the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010.  This act has been championed by First Lady Michelle Obama, and aims to provide the healthiest meals possible, per the most recent scientific research in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  The Dietary Guidelines for Americans provides guidance for all Americans ages 2 and up.  It encourages Americans to focus on eating a healthful diet—one that focuses on foods and beverages that help achieve and maintain a healthy weight, promote health, and prevent disease.

Did you know that nearly all of the grain items served in the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program are whole grain rich?

Did you know that in addition to offering 5 different food groups at lunch (meat or meat alternate, grains, fruit, vegetables and milk), we offer 5 different vegetable subgroups over the course of the week including Red/Orange, Dark Green, Beans & Peas, Starchy, and "Other".  Each category of vegetable is rich in a unique set of nutrients.  Offering students a variety of vegetables gives them the most nutrients to fuel their bodies and help them perform well in school.
