Youth, School, & Community
The Allegheny Valley School District welcomes over 900 Pre-K - grade 12 students to its buildings to provide an inclusive learning environment.  Students are able to balance academics with opportunities in the arts, athletics, STEAM learning, and extra-curricular clubs, creating a balanced program that delivers a well-rounded educational experience.

The end of the school year is fast approaching!  This year, a majority of student 1:1 devices will not be collected prior summer break.  With only a few exceptions listed below, students will keep their chromebooks for the summer.

Exceptions:
Students in these grade levels will be turning in their assigned device:

  • Grade 12 (Chromebooks)
  • Grade 1 (iPads)
  • Grade K (iPads)
  • Grade pre-K (iPads)

All other grades (2nd-11th) will keep their devices.

In August, some grade levels will exchange their devices for new ones.  Information on this exchange will be provided later in the summer.

Use of these devices will be entirely up to parents/guardians.  To assist parents/guardians in this matter, the District has recently launched GoGuardian Parent - a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices.   With GoGuardian Parent, parents/guardians can see student activity and even set “offline hours” to restrict screen time.   For information about GoGuardian Parent, refer to the email sent on May 16 or the article posted on our website on May 16.

The rules and expectations regarding 1:1 devices are outlined in the “1:1 Handbook”.   The handbook and its contents do hereby extend through the Summer 2024 term.

The Allegheny Valley School District is launching "GoGuardian Parent" - a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices. First, the GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of your child's online activity on school-managed devices and accounts - this overview includes the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited. Second, GoGuardian Parent provides you with an additional set of internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses.
