Nutrition Services
Promoting healthy and safe behaviors among students is an important part of the fundamental mission of Glendora Unified School District.
Providing young people with the knowledge and skills they need to become healthy and productive adults can increase their capacity to learn, reduce absenteeism and improve their physical fitness and mental alertness.
To this end, Glendora Unified School District has a Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) that addresses the Center for Disease Control's eight components of Health:
The CSHP is monitored by an advisory committee comprised of administrators, teachers/counselors, Director of Student Welfare, Director of Food Services, Glendora Police Department officers, Glendora Parks and Recreation representatives, Community psychologists, Drug/Alcohol counselors, LA County office of Health representatives, parents and students, and is facilitated by Melissa Germann, CSHP Coordinator.
The US Department of Agriculture has developed a wonderful website that provides guidance for parents on nutrition. Their Ten Tips Nutrition Education Series provides consumers and professionals with high quality, easy-to-follow tips in a convenient, printable format. These are perfect for posting on a refrigerator.
These tips and ideas are a starting point. You will find a wealth of suggestions here that can help you get started toward a healthy diet. Choose a change that you can make today, and move toward a healthier family.
