Dear USD 429 Parents, Guardians, and Patrons:
As we wrap up another successful school year, I want to take time to thank you all for the support of our students and staff. We ask a lot of you and want you to know we appreciate your daily effort with helping us teach and mentor your children. Even though we have a few days left, it is important to note as we wrap up the year, we are busily preparing for a new school year. Even though we do not see a lot of kids and staff in the summer, we hope to prepare the buildings, grounds, classrooms, and all aspects of teaching and learning during these months. I wish you and your families a refreshing and enjoyable summer with some time to spend together.
We won’t be doing a lot of work around the buildings this summer except some routine maintenance, painting, and upkeep. We are looking at track repairs and re-striping, some other asphalt work around the campuses, some painting in a few classrooms and some exterior areas, tile repair in the cafeteria areas, and catching up on some general maintenance. Deep cleaning the classrooms and buildings is time consuming and thank you to our custodial crew of Brian Clary, Amy Smith, and Kathy Smith for their work during the summer months.
We are looking for help with mowing, weed eating, and some inside moving and cleaning. If you know of any high school age student who might be interested, please let us know.
We do have some staff turnover this year and moving into next year. We have been fortunate to find all the needed staff to replace those leaving. We are still looking for a business/computers teacher. If know if anyone, that might be interested please let us know. We can train the right person who has a passion for this type of work. We know of many programs through various universities than can help with this transition from the workforce to the classroom.
Again, I want to make the most of the next six days with students and eight days with staff. We still have work to accomplish and finish. Our seniors graduate on May 19th at 3:00 pm, we still have some award ceremonies and, and our preschool students and 8th graders still have promotion activities. I look forward to seeing many of you at these events.
