Accomack County Public Schools Closing for Memorial Day
 
Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Hall announces that Accomack County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024, in observance of Memorial Day. Classes will resume a regular schedule on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Parents, students, staff, and community members are invited to a Town Hall Meeting with the Superintendent and School Board members, to discuss an important topic which impacts our entire school community: school start times. Your input is invaluable as we consider potential adjustments to our current schedule.

The meeting will be held at Metompkin Elementary School on June 3, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

During this meeting we will discuss the research, potential benefits, and challenges of altering school start times, as well as your thoughts and opinions on how any changes might affect you or your family. Your participation will help us make informed decisions which will impact the academic and social emotional learning of our students.

Due to fog, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 Accomack County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for all students and staff. Twelve-month employees will report on time.
ACCOMACK COUNTY DISMISSING TWO HOURS EARLY FOR TEACHER WORKDAY
 
Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Hall announces that Accomack County Public Schools will be dismissing two hours early on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 for a Teacher Workday. We will resume a regular schedule on Thursday, May 9.

This event includes registration for rising VPI and Kindergarten students. Families interested in the reverse inclusion/peer model program can also bring children ages three and four to learn about the application and screening processes
The Eastern Shore Summer Regional Governor’s School
 
The Eastern Shore Summer Regional Governor’s School for the Gifted will be a two-week daytime program, June 24-July 9, 2024. This summer’s program topic will be Marine Science. Students will participate in a variety of hands-on activities, field experiences, active problem-solving scenarios, and conduct research while learning about the different techniques and procedures used by Marine Biologists. They will also have the opportunity to explore careers and career pathways in this field. The program will be based at Nandua High School, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Students who have been identified as gifted in grades 5-7 are possible candidates for attendance. Applications are posted on the ACPS website and are available from the Gifted Resource Teacher at your child’s school. Home-Delivered Summer Meal Program
 
This summer, ACPS Child Nutrition Services will relaunch our home- delivered summer meals program. The attached permission slip will be due back to your child's school by 4/19/24. Upon providing permission, you will receive a UPS shipment to your door every two weeks with a box containing 10 days worth of shelf - stable breakfasts and lunches. For each child in your household under the age of 18 you will receive (1) box of meals at no cost to you. This program is being offered to all households in Accomack County with children 18 years and younger. These permission slips will be sent home with all students and will also be available to pickup from several other community- based locations in the county. We anticipate the first shipment to occur the week of 6/17 and end the week of 8/30. We're looking forward to providing you with free healthy, nutritious meals this summer!
ACCOMACK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS CHANGING THE EARLY OUT DAY IN APRIL
 
Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Hall announces Accomack County Public Schools will be changing the early out day from April 17th to April 8th. Middle Schools and High Schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. We will resume a regular schedule on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Delayed Opening for Monday, March 11, 2024
 
Due to the rain, wind, and tides, flooded roads on the bayside are still a concern. Therefore, we will have a 2-hour delay for all students and staff for Monday, March 11, 2024. Twelve-month employees will report on time.

ACCOMACK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR SPRING VACATION MARCH 25 - April 1
 
Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Hall announces all Accomack County Public Schools will be closed for all students and teachers from Monday, March 25, through Monday, April 1, 2024 for the Spring Vacation. Classes will resume a regular schedule on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Virtual Learning Day for Thursday, March 7, 2024
 
Due to the expectation of continued flooding of roads, particularly on the bayside, Thursday March 7th, 2024, will be a virtual day of instruction for all students and 10-month staff. Twelve-month employees will report 2 hours late.
Accomack County Public Schools Dismissing 2 Hours Early on 03-06-24
 
Due to rapidly deteriorating road conditions, Accomack County Public Schools will be closing 2 hours early for all students and 10 month staff. There could be a slight delay in order to assemble all buses.
