ALL TRIMBLE COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CEP SCHOOLS

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OUR STUDENTS?

Trimble County School District is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2023-2024 school year. Under CEP, children attending all schools will be able to receive a breakfast and a lunch at no charge. The Community Eligibility Provision is NOT a grant. Schools must qualify based on the information from other programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Temporary Assistance Program for Needy Families (TANF) and is still part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.

We are excited about this opportunity to provide nutritious meals free of charge to all students. Our hope is that more students will have access to meals that provide essential nutrients that are a necessary component to academic success. Meals will follow the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines for healthy school meals. Please encourage your child to participate in the school meals programs.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact Toni Jackson, Nutrition Director, 502-663-0043.

SMART SNACKS IN SCHOOL

We are focused on the health of our school environment. Our school district has established nutrition standards for all snacks sold in school by any entity, including parent/student organizations, teachers, boosters, fundraisers, or the food and nutrition services department. These standards for snack sales are in effect from any time before school through 1/2 hour after school, in accordance with the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, the USDA and our district Wellness Policy. Non-compliant foods may be sold from 1/2 hour after school through the end of the day. These standards carefully balance science-based nutrition guidelines with practical and flexible solutions to promote healthier eating on campus.
